Did you get your kids Porn for Christmas?

I live in the winter wonderland of Michigan, and this year we had a White Christmas. I always enjoy the Christmas season (singing carols, celebrating the birth of Jesus, and shopping in stores decked out with Holiday cheer), and I hate to see it end.

So as you searched for the perfect gifts for your children this past Christmas season, I bet you never thought of buying them Porn. I’m pretty sure you didn’t buy the latest Blu-Ray porn movies and put them in your kid's stocking or wrapped them up a 1-year subscription to Penthouse. But you could have unwittingly got your kids porn for Christmas.

Sometimes we don’t think or don’t know about the unintended consequences of the gifts we give our kids. For instance, did you put an iPad under the Christmas tree for your kids? If so, you got your kids porn for Christmas. Did any of you put an Xbox under the Christmas tree for your kids? If so, you got your kids porn for Christmas. Did any of you put a cell phone in your kid's stocking? If so, you got your kids porn for Christmas. So why did I pick iPads, the Xbox, and Cell Phones? They’re popular gifts and can crack the door open to the world of porn.

Apple iPad: The iPad has parental controls, but they’re pretty much limited to having Internet access turned on or turned off. So grab your kids’ Christmas iPad, access the Parental Controls, and turn off the Internet. Or get the X3Watch at Apple’s App Store to filter their Internet access.

Xbox: Many parents don’t realize that gaming systems, like the Xbox One and the Playstation, have built-in Internet access. So grab your kid's gaming console, go to the settings and either turn off the Internet browser or set up their built-in Internet filter.

Cell Phones: Most cell phones have Internet access, and filtering porn on some phones can be a real challenge. Cell phone carriers, like AT&T or Verizon, have parental controls available, but you may have to pay extra for the service, and each cell phone may have a different way of implementing the filtering. So grab your kid's Christmas cell phone, call your carrier and find out how to block porn and other inappropriate websites on their phone.

Now that you have a little more information, ask yourself, “Did I get my kids porn for Christmas?” If so, now you know some of the things you can do to ensure your Christmas gifts are porn free.
