Kevin E. Outland

Kevin, founder of “The Dark Side of the Web” seminars, is an Internet researcher, professional speaker, father of 3 children and has been married to his wife Ardith for over 30 years. He spent 12 years of his career designing computer networks for corporations. In addition, he also provided corporations with network security solutions since the birth of business on the Internet. He graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science and has a number of data certifications from companies such as AT&T and Motorola. He has also been trained in numerous networking and security products from companies like Symantec, Cisco and Check Point Software.

During his career he worked with companies around the globe and watched the Internet grow from something corporations wondered why it was needed, to something they could not live without. He saw first hand how the Internet brought with it a whole new breed of hackers and computer viruses that spread with incredible speed. As he consulted with corporations on how to deal with these new security threats he also saw how the Internet grew to bring new threats corporations had yet to imagine. He had to provide new security solutions that helped companies deal with Internet users that were accessing “The Dark Side of the Web” (i.e. porn, gambling and hate sites). As this type of Internet usage made its way into the home, he felt lead to bring his expertise to parents so they could protect their children from “The Dark Side of the Web”.

Kevin has served as Vice President for two technology firms and now, in addition to his speaking engagements, he runs an advertising agency called Pure Energy Advertising.
